Finishing touches for a local favourite

If you’re driving over the Skye Bridge to get on or off the Isle of Skye, you’re passing Lean To Coffee. It’s a favourite coffee stop for both locals and tourists, with tasty cakes, coffee, toasties and more.

Lean To is owned by Seren and Lorenz and situated on Seren’s beautiful family croft. We spent a few days in the Summer months picking, collecting and drying wildflowers and seedheads that had grown in the location. To this, I also sourced some dried amaranthus, sunflowers, beech and eucalyptus.

Over 3 fun days, we built up 3 garlands to frame the walls of an old stone croft house ruin which is covered and contains tables for customers. The finished garlands perfectly frame the space and the stunning views of Ashaig beach.

It was so special to work on this bespoke commission with a good friend, using materials sourced on-site. It was also great to get free toasties and matcha lattes for lunch throughout….
